Frequently asked questions

We’ve compiled a list of the questions we get asked the most often. To jump to the section you’re most interested in, simply click on one of the subject heading below.

How long does it take to build a website?

The length of time it takes to build a website is dependent on the individual project. However, a basic website can take between 2 – 4 weeks to be up and running, while a comprehensive website may take between 4 – 8+ weeks. In each case, we will keep you informed from the outset and will always work towards launching the website within the agreed deadline.

What is the cost of a website?

Websites are quoted as a fixed bid project. The cost structure is based on the package selected, the complexity of functionality, the size of the website, and the need for marketing support such as search engine optimization, and social media integration. Every project is unique and we try to make sure our pricing is based on your specific needs and not what we think the market will tolerate.

What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A Content Management System (CMS) is an intuitive, web-based publishing tool, which allows non-technical staff to go into your website and manage the site, making any changes necessary from an internet-enabled computer. Our CMS is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Editor, which makes it really easy to update information on the site. To control the look of the content, the user is able to edit the website content, together with managing the site’s navigational layout and structure. All changes are made via a normal web browser, so no specialist software is required.

If I decide that I don’t want to update my own website, can Jak Web Solutions do it for me?

Of course, we can! We will provide you with a range of Maintenance Plans to suit both your business and budget requirements, so that you can be sure your website will reflect a new and fresh look, with the most up-to-date content on your site.

How long am I tied into a contract for the design and development of my website?

Like most web providers, Jak Web Solutions will design and develop your website within an agreed and specified time-frame, which will vary according to the project requirements. In most cases, clients will expect their websites to be hosted by Jak Web Solutions, so the hosting is provided on the basis of an annual contract.

Can you provide all our web design and hosting services?

Yes – we are your one stop shop providing all your web services. No more – not knowing who to call if you have problems – we can register your domain name – design your website – provide your web hosting and arrange your email accounts for you.

What if I already have my own domain name?

That’s simple. Jak Web Solutions will transfer your domain name to your new Jak Web Solutions website completely free-of-charge.

Do i own my website?

YES! Everything that we build will be 100% owned by you. Most of our clients stay with us for the life of the website. Our team is just irresistible that way. But if for any reason you decide you want to take your site to another hosting service and get another company to service the site, we will happily assist you in making the transition as effortlessly as possible. The website is yours after all, and we want you to take it wherever you go.

I already have a website, but I want a new design. Can you help?

Absolutely! we can study your current website, analyse it, discuss your goals, and redesign your website according to your requests

Will I have a say in the graphic design process?

Absolutely. Our goal is to please you. We can’t do that without your input. If there are other sites with a design style that you would like to emulate, we can do that. If you have a logo or brand collateral that you’d like us to work around, that’s no problem. We’ll be sure your new site will be a consistent and integral part of your overall brand.

Do you outsource your work?

No, everything we do is 100% in-house, so we have complete control. In fact some individuals outsource their clients project to us, that’s why we decided to white label our service.

What will you need from me to design my website?

In order to design and format your Website, we need you to provide us with the following before starting. Additional things such as Power Point presentations, video files, articles, soft copy of forms for downloading are optional and can be incorporated if you have them.

Logo
Again, we can always use your existing literature to work from. Usually the logos on brochures, letterhead, etc. are more than adequate. If you have your logo in electronic file format, such as .GIF or .JPG or .PNG or .PSD or .TIF format. If you do not have one, we can design one for you.

Text or Content
If you have (or can get) the text-based information you want on your site in electronic file format, we prefer it this way. Acceptable file formats are .TXT, .WRI, .DOC, .RTF, .XLS, .SXW, .ODT, .WPD (Word Perfect), .HTML, .SXC, .ODS. Our next preference is to scan text from a printed page. Handwritten text is strongly discouraged (and there would be additional fee). If you do not have any existing content, please get it written by a content writer/copywriter, which you can use in your brochures as well.

Photos
Remember that the World Wide Web is a visual medium. If you have photos of your products, services, place of business or even yourself, we will include them. If you have soft copies in .GIF or .JPG or .PNG or .PSD or .TIF format, that is great. Instead, if you have actual photos, we will scan and resize and optimize them for you and include them. If you do not have printed photos, but have photo negatives, we can scan them as well. If you do not have any photos, but have them in your brochures, pamphlets, catalogues, etc. we will scan them even though their quality won’t be as great as the previous options. If you do not even have brochures, pamphlets, catalogues, and if you are located in India, we can send our digital photographer to take digital photographs.

25 Word Description & Keywords
Most Web surfers use WWW search engines and directories to find your web site. These search sites use either a description or keywords in their search. Your description should include the words or phrases that someone might use to search for your business/ products/ services. You can submit as many keywords that you can think of. Remember these are words someone might use to try and find your site (i.e., bed & breakfast, or car repairs, etc.), so think of yourself as a potential visitor to your web site. We will help you in deciding those keywords.

Once my site is complete, what’s happens next?

Once your website is up and running we can offer you a full support package designed to help maintain and update as required certain elements of your website. Basically we can act as “agents” for your site, taking care of further updates, additional modifications if required, and report back to you on rankings, visitors and the like. If we are taking care of your hosting for you, it makes the support even easier.

What type of store platform does your company use?

That all depends on things like how many products you plan on selling, how you plan on managing inventory, and so on. Our company does not represent any one particular shopping cart platform. We typically develop store systems utilizing Open Cart. Smaller stores are often ok utilizing Woocommerce (via the WordPress Platform). We also have created custom store systems. At the end of the day it just comes down to whatever the best solution is.

How do I get my products onto the website?

If you have an existing site or database we may be able to export that material and import it into the new store. If you do not, or if you are looking to make changes anyway, our team will set you up with the ability to log into an admin panel in which you can add / edit / remove both categories and the products that go in those categories. Every ecommerce web design solution we develop comes equipped with these types of content management abilities.

How are people going to find my online store?

Running an e-commerce website is not all that different from running a retail operation. Care, attention, and detail need to go into managing your inventory. You also need to spend time marketing and promoting your store. Whether it be retail shop or the world wide web, advertising is a must. It typically also makes sense to sell your products through other outlets as well. For example, selling the products on Amazon.com, eBay.com, Esty.com, or having them listed in Google’s product feed all makes sense with assisting you in your online sales efforts.

How much does it cost to have an online store built?

Most of the ecommerce website design solutions we put together range in the $400 to $2k area. It all depends. It is not too typical to have a fully functional online store end up being any less of an investment then what is stated above but it does happen from time to time. The larger and more involved the project is, the more costly the investment typically.

How long does it take your team to build my shopping cart website?

Again, that all depends on you and your business’ needs. Our ecommerce web design solutions are comprehensive. Consulting, content, design, development, search engine optimization, beta testing, etc, all take time. Typically an online store takes about 4-6 weeks but it can certainly vary. We have taken on ecommerce projects that eat up a few months as well as others that go live within a few short weeks.

Who do I call if there is a problem with my ecommerce website design solution?

You call us. We handle all customer service issues out of our office. The person you will speak to for any service issues is the same individual that helped you get the site together. This allows you to experience only the very best customer service and build a great relationship.
